Fishing With Grandpa

The pictures I feel the worst about losing on my faulty memory card are the photos from this day...luckily I had a few that I took on my phone.
My boys knew for weeks before we got to Boise that Grandpa was going to take them fishing in his boat, and they were both excited to go.

We started the day on the boat, those fish just weren't biting...

but we did catch one!

Quinn loved his first boat ride!

After not catching much for awhile we decided to put the boat away and join one of my Dad's co-workers on the beach.  As we were putting the boat away I asked Ethan if he had fun, he replied, "yeah, but it's not really like I dreamed it would be."
Well luckily for Ethan his "dream" would soon come true!  Fishing from the bank he got to play in the dirt, make s'mores on the campfire, and then it must have been dinner time because those fish started to bite!
At one point Caden was roasting a marshmallow when a fish came on, so he passed on his roasting stick to me so he could go help reel one in.  Right then all of the poles had a fish on so I ended up holding a baby, a half-roasted marshmallow on a roasting stick, and trying to reel in a fishing pole all at the same time.  It ended well.

Ended up being a pretty perfect day of fishing!

Boise Visit

Since we were already in Utah for the Johnson reunion, I decided to take the boys to Boise for a little visit the following week.  The first day we got there we lucked out having Uncles Weston and James there, both Aunt Ericas, and cute little Scarlett!  It was our first time getting to meet Scarlyle and we all just love her!

Scarlett was not too amused by Ethan's overabundance of love :)
Quinn and Scarlett are just a little over 1 month apart!

Love these Bumbo buddies!
We had a great time with my parents the rest of the week.  Of course it wouldn't be a trip to Boise without a motorcycle ride for the boys!

Such a fun week!

Celebrating 50 Years!

April 2013 was filled with some awesome experiences and we created some great memories.  I got busy and got behind on updating my blog...because I waited I ended up losing all of the pictures on my memory card!  So frustrating, but luckily my sister-in-law Lucy let me have a copy of her awesome pictures so we can always look back and remember having all of the Johnson's together to celebrate Vaughn and Karen's 50th wedding anniversary!

I don't know if my boys have ever played so hard in one weekend!  We all stayed in an awesome vacation rental in Midway, Utah called Timber Moose Lodge...my family referred to it as the "castle."  The castle itself was pretty amazing with huge suites, a large indoor pool, a hot tub on the balcony, a huge bounce house in the tower, and fun game rooms.  Within just minutes of being there Caden got lost!

The boys loved swimming everyday!
There are 25 grandchildren so the boys had plenty of cousins to play with.  All were there except 5 (4 are currently serving full-time missions).

Karen made scrapbooks for all of her children.  It was so fun for everyone to look through the books.  What a labor of love!!!  It was also fun to watch old family movies and see pictures of the Johnson family through the years.

Ethan LOVES his cousin buddy Henry!

All of the grandkids around the table.
We had a fun family talent show one night.  Our family performed Gitarzan!  Caden and Ethan were so excited to be little monkeys.  That night around 1 a.m. Caden was still lying awake in bed talking about our big performance, we heard him say, "I was a great monkey, Uncle Rex said I was a good monkey."  It was pretty cute!  Jay and Lucy's family re-wrote the song, "Call Me Maybe" to fit the reunion, I still hear my boys singing, "so here's your family...and it is fifty."

I think everyone's favorite part of the talent show was when Vaughn put a CD in and asked Karen to dance!  We all loved it!
Kelly brought a beautiful anniversary cake that we all enjoyed!

Outside of the castle there was a very fun tire swing that went out over the cliff and gave a great view of the valley below.

Caden was pretty excited waiting for his turn on the swing.
I made family 42 cupcakes with personalized hair and eye color to look like everyone in the family.  I set them up to look like a family tree (I lost all my pictures of that).  Yummiest family tree I've ever seen!

I tried to get a cute picture of Quinn and his new cousin Abby!  These babies were pretty sweet, and I'm excited Quinn will have a cousin that is his age.

The King of the Castle!

We are so happy everyone made the trip to be there!  It was just a wonderful weekend catching up with family that we don't see often enough.  Congratulations to Vaughn and Karen for all they have accomplished in 50 years!

My Mom...the Prom Queen

I have so many things to catch up on from April on this blog...but it seems like any spare computer time I have lately has been getting our Summer Slim Down up and running.

But with Mother's Day this weekend I just thought I should share a little ditty about my mom.  My mom is a lot of things.  She is kind, she helps people and serves others like no one else I've ever known, she is creative, she is good at everything she does, she is fun, she can be a little wacky tabacky!  She is also tough!  I mean really tough.  She once finished a rafting trip with a broken rib and a hole in her lung.  A few weeks ago she took a bad fall and broke her arm skiing in slushy conditions.  Most people would call for the ski patrol and head to the E.R., but not Grammy Tammy!  She got herself back in her skis, skied down the hill and went back to the lodge.  She went to the lodge because her ski friends, the Vertigals, were having PROM day on the slopes, she knew she was up for Prom Queen, so she couldn't just leave.

When I saw the pictures a few weeks ago in Boise I knew they needed to make my blog and become part of our family history.  So without further ado, here is Grammy Tammy in the prom dress she wore skiing!
After all that she didn't even win the title, she was robbed!

I sure love my mom, she is my hero!  I'm so glad we have a great relationship.  I'm also grateful for free cell phone minutes because it is hard for me to have a day go by without a chat.  Title or not, she's the Queen in my book!!!
