Away in a Manger

We had a fun Family Night tonight with some of our great friends here in Des Moines. Chloe and Ethan were Mary and Joseph in our little nativity play. Chloe's new baby brother was going to be the baby Jesus, but we all thought it would be safer to use a doll. In the end that was a very good choice.

Speaking of mangers...we are glad we don't live in one tonight. According to weather.com, it is currently 1 degree, but feels like -24 degrees. I don't care who you are, that's too cold even for a penguin. Good thing Ethan and I are heading to the warm state of Idaho tomorrow. The craziest part is that it was 50 degrees when we left for church this morning at 9 am. Hope you are all staying warm and cozy!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Ethan with Santa at the ward party! He loved him!

We've had our Christmas tree up for a week now! We went out hunting for our tree when it was about 10 degrees outside so we made our decision quickly. Ethan did not really enjoy this outing. It is a beautiful tree and smells so good! We are hoping to find a good home for it this weekend before I leave to go to Boise!

When we were in Chicago we bought Ethan his first Christmas ornament...a skier wearing BYU colors. This is him putting it on the tree (sorry the video is sideways...rookie mistake)!

A family picture! It's a new tradition for Clark to wear the reindeer suit.

Just to show my mom my cute peppermint garland that I made!
On Sunday night we had some friends over for the Christmas Devotional! That is always such a wonderful meeting that gets me right into the Christmas spirit! Until I put the food out on the table for the guests I didn't realize that everything was chocolate...my true love shines through!

On an additional note on Dec. 3rd Ethan started to really crawl. He has been scooting backward and army crawling for several weeks now, but last Wednesday he finally got the hang of it. It is amazing how quickly babies can learn new tricks, he is an expert now just one week later...he's fast too and curious about EVERYTHING! (except the Christmas tree, he hates how it tickles his head so he stays away from that). This is a little video of him crawling that first day!

This picture is for Uncle James...a future water skier?

He held himself like this for a long time, I loved how his feet looked like they were in a water ski. Before he found he could chew on the bar he was leaning back like he was really skiing!
