Christmas Break 2008

Ethan and I just returned last night from 3 wonderful weeks with my family in Boise. Clark returned on Sunday from 2 weeks of vacation! It was a magical Christmas...perfect! My whole family was able be there. We had so much fun staying up way too late, eating way too much, and playing one too many card games.

Here are the highlights of our vacation through pictures (the ones I had saved before I left my camera in Boise...
Skiing for the boys at Bogus Basin.

Gingerbread house construction with the Bowman family.

Fun shopping trips for the girls! Mom can definitely out shop anyone I've ever met.

Hunting trips (notice Clark & me in the window)

Ethan playing the Christmas chimes with James & Erica.

Witnessing Mom and Dad's salsa dance lesson...spicy!

We started Christmas Eve with our traditional fondue dinner. Then a surprise visit from Santa!

We had a secret Santa suit for Ethan! After dinner we dressed him in it and snuck through the garage and brought him around to the front door! It was such a beautiful snowy night and Ethan looked so cute as Santa!

He was so tired!

A little overwhelmed and trying not to cry....

A little too much Uncle Weston in his face trying to get him to smile, and then the tears started.

Finally getting to relax!

We finished Christmas Eve by opening up matching pajamas for each couple and thanks to Erica, my new sister-in-law the first ever pajama fashion show/dance party in the Peterson home! Luckily that video is too long for this blog! Then we read from the scriptures about the life of Jesus Christ and his role as the Savior in our lives.

Santa defnitely found us Christmas Eve...
Weston & Erica on Christmas morning just waiting for Ethan to wake up! (Weston has always had the hardest time waiting for presents on Christmas morning).

Ethan's first Christmas morning!

A little video of Bubba checking out his stocking.

He had so much fun with all of the wrapping paper, boxes and the commotion! Having a little 9 month old made Christmas morning so much fun!

Soooo Sweet! He loved this little bear from his Great-Grandmother Peterson!

My mom & Erica modeling 2 of the aprons I sewed this Christmas...Sassy aprons for women who like to shake and bake!

James and his Christmas hat!

We took a hint from the movie "The Christmas Story" and went out to a Chinese restaurant for Christmas dinner with the Vaterlaus family...fa ra ra ra ra! It was a wonderful Christmas Day!

We got our fill of sports this break! We went to a Steelhead's hockey game the day after Christmas. The boys went to the Humanitarian Bowl, hookey bobbing and sledding at the church parking lot (is that a sport), and plenty of college football on TV.

And of course a trip to Merritt's for scones in our best redneck hats!

We rang in the New Year with a little party and the chocolate fountain at midnight!

It was such a fun trip! It was hard today to come back to reality. It was hard for Ethan too. I don't think he remembered his bed at all. Last night he was terrified to go to sleep! All day he has been looking for my parents and his aunt and uncles! He was listening to my mom on speaker phone today and looking all over for her, when he realized she wasn't here he started to cry. He got so much attention and love...and now all he gets in the day is me!
It is amazing how much he grew and learned in 3 weeks. He now can climb stairs (we bought a baby gate tonight), and he pulls himself to a standing position on everything...it is time to really baby proof the house.
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday!

Seth watched "The Christmas Story" this year for the first time and spent the next three days singing "fa ra ra ra ra". Luckily it wore off before school started again.

Oh, and I was wondering where my apron is?????

Good luck with Ethan this week. Let us know how it goes.

It looks like a fabulous, festive time. I'm so glad you got to go home, although we missed you here. Ethan looks adorable in his Santa get up.

We'll call you from our hospital if you call us from yours:)

Remember that one time when we actually hung out a couple of times in Boise, and I still never saw Ethan? Looking at thins post remined me of that, how funny! That Santa suit is hilarious. Also hilarous: James wearing a shirt from the Capitol Classic. It still fits?!
